Passenger traffic growth continues at Fraport Greece airports in 2025

Fraport Greece passenger traffic 2025 exceeded 37 million travellers, with December figures also showing growth, confirming the continued upward trend across the 14 regional airports.

 

Fraport Greece released the passenger traffic results for December 2025 and for the full year, confirming the continued upward trajectory of the 14 regional airports and their contribution to Greek tourism and the national economy.

In December 2025, the 14 regional airports welcomed more than 881,000 passengers, recording an increase of 9.4% compared with December 2024. The figures indicate sustained growth in passenger traffic during the winter season.

For the full year 2025, Fraport Greece handled more than 37 million passengers (37,116,000), representing an increase of 3% compared with 2024. Compared with 2016, the year prior to the concession of the 14 regional airports, when total passenger traffic stood at 25 million, overall growth has reached 48%.

Between 2017 and 2025, a total of approximately 249.6 million passengers travelled through the 14 regional airports under Fraport Greece’s management.

In terms of flight activity during 2025, domestic flights increased by 1.1%, reaching 86,971 flights, while international flights rose by 3.2% to 196,382. Overall flight movements, combining domestic and international operations, increased by 2.5%.

Individual airports also recorded strong performance. Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” reported a 10.7% increase in passenger traffic in December, corresponding to an additional 56,000 passengers, with total monthly traffic reaching 580,267 passengers. On an annual basis, passenger traffic at Thessaloniki increased by 8.2% in 2025, totalling 7,982,798 passengers.

Rhodes Airport “Diagoras” also recorded positive results, surpassing 7 million passengers in 2025 and achieving annual growth of 2.5% compared with 2024. In December, passenger traffic increased by 8.4%, corresponding to 72,624 travellers.

From 2017 to 2025, the 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece handled a total of 249.6 million passengers, underlining their role in connecting Greece with international tourism markets.
