With the approval from the Railway Board, the new services will operate on three major routes: Jalpaiguri–Tiruchirappalli, Tambaram–Chandrakachi, and Nagercoil–Jalpaiguri. These routes will provide more travel opportunities for passengers traveling across these regions, addressing the demand for more affordable long-distance rail travel options.
The Nagercoil–Jalpaiguri Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 20604) will be the first of the new services to be launched. It will depart from Rangapani station at 1:45 PM on Saturday, with its scheduled arrival in Nagercoil at 7:15 PM on January 19. This train will stop at several key stations within Tamil Nadu, including Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Udumalaipettai, Palani, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti, and Tirunelveli. This new service will offer passengers from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal a more affordable and comfortable travel option.
In addition, the Jalpaiguri–Tiruchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 20610) will begin its journey from Jalpaiguri at 1:45 PM on Saturday, with an expected arrival in Tiruchirappalli at 2:15 PM on January 19. The train will stop at several important stations along the way, including Egmore, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, and Thanjavur. This service will connect two important regions of India, providing passengers with an affordable travel alternative between the two states.
The third service, the Tambaram–Chandrakachi Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 16107), will begin its operations on Sunday. It will depart from Chandrakachi at 2:45 PM, reaching Tambaram at 6:45 PM the same day. This route will further strengthen the rail network between Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, providing an important travel link for passengers across these states.
Indian Railways has planned a ceremonial flag-off event at Rangapani railway station in West Bengal to mark the launch of these new services.
